Because there a lot of people that collect and use them for crafts. That’s really the only reason why. If no one liked to use them then they would be cheaper since it doesn’t cost more than a few pennies a piece to make.
Rubber stamps are expensive is because if you get the one u like it will last a good time if u take care of it. trust me i love stamping. by the way try to get some when they are on sale and stamp stamp stamp! thats just my opinion.
Good question. It really depends on what kind of rubber stamp you are talking about.
The traditional rubber stamp which consists of a wood handle and some type of of either galvanized rubber or polymer die plate can vary greatly in cost. The old saying “you get what you pay for” really is true.
If you are looking for a self-inking or pre-inked rubber stamp, then prepare to pay a bit more. These stamps are amazing, have sharp impressions, and last a lifetime, though you’ll cough up the dough for them.
I’ve bought stamps from SC Stamp http://www.scstamp.com ,
which I’ve found to be very good stamps at a very good price.
Good luck, and remember, price should not prevent your from enjoying your hobby.
You can get unmounted rubber stamps and mount them on wooden blocks. I buy cheap mousepads to use between the rubber and the wood. They have an acrylic system where you have several different acrylic handles to put the unmounted stamp on for stamping and then you peal them off when not in use. This is nice because you can see through the acrylic and know exactly where you are stamping. They take less room to store too.
